no not that.
Yesterday I was sad because I almost lost one of my kids at pick up time, but everyone (my superiors and coworkers) was like “It happens all the time, and we know you are great at this so don’t worry.” But then today, the last day of the first week of our school year, there were some fun and nice moments with the kids. Also, one boy fell off a playground climber and hurt his “peenie” and kept telling everyone about it as I sat with him while he recovered. Then later in the day when I was by myself with 7 of the students in my class, he pulled the fire alarm by accident (he didn’t know what it was) and so we had a whole school impromptu fire drill (the first one of the yea).. My boss and the other teacher of our class had been down waiting in the classroom for us to come down in the elevator and so I had to do the fire drill routine separately and by myself, and when we all returned to the classroom, the new teacher was worried, but my boss saw us come in and said “Naw, look, Jess has got this down, she knew exactly how to handle it!” Nonetheless, it was a crazy week!
During our morning meeting today, a little boy in my class, the one who pushed himself down the slide yesterday and then hugged me, raised his hand and when I called on him he said “Um… I love you.” and he said it so sincerely with the cutest smile on his face. It was so nice.
i hit my coworkers shoulder lightly and he was like “you’re going to make me cry like a girl” and i was like “what’s wrong with being a girl?” and he was quiet for a moment then he looked into the distance and whispered “the social standards they’re forced to live by”
